Well, welcome to the board, Michele
But if you still are in awe of a god that ''sets people up'' then have you really changed that much?

Well, welcome to the board, Michele

i apologize if this was posted already, but i thought it was interesting.
hopefully the society is the next to pay up.. the full article can be found here...http://www.cnn.com/2003/us/northeast/08/08/priest.abuse/index.html.
boston archdiocese offers $55 million settlementlawyer: hundreds who allege abuse considering terms.
The WT soiling their suits? I doubt it.
The Catholic Church was ''outed'' by victims, and eventually faced up to reality.
The WT never will. They still are a book publisher, and need the sales people on a choke chain.
At the first sign of the campfire dying down (the rules of the GB), the rank and file will break camp, and bolt.
The Catholic Church has a much looser grip. Relatively speaking.
They don't control by family bondage, only by Papal order and decree.
I would be much more inclined to hold a shred of respect for the RC Church, than for the watchtower society, who will change only when the last dog dies. (Literally)
i'm a bartender and love a good cocktail!
key lime pie martini.
1 1/2 shots vanilla vodka, preferably stolichnaya or 3 olives.
Shamus beat me to it,
mine was, grab a cold coors, twist top counter-clockwise, bend elbow, enjoy!! LOL
Anyways, Smurfette, the Key Lime Martini is a keeper, that sounds scrumptious!
I bet you are a great barkeep!

Metatron,
That is pretty cool, eh? I watched a show on television the other day, I think it was Oprah.
Anyways, there is another device for people who are blinded by bad cornea's.
It is really a contact lens, that is filled with water, and fixes scratched or cloudy cornea's.
It was amazing to watch these people put them in and see for the first time in their lives.
Science. A beautiful thing!!

one thing i find out about more and more every week is that sooo many of you who post here are working, quietly and without fanfare, behind the scenes.
helping get the word out to local and national newspapers, helping people like vicki, supporting those who've filed lawsuits against the wts, developing personal relationships with other posters...what we see on the board is just the tip of the iceberg.. i'll not name names (you know who you are thank you.. craig
How right you are, Ona,
Some people not only work behind the scenes, but shine like stars while they do it.
Kudos to all of you who never step into the spotlight.
the merriam-webster dictionary describes this word as: the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for; in other words, gaining something good, from something bad or accidental.. .
many of us can relate to this.
take an unplanned pregnancy for one thing.
If a wrong can be made right, by understanding a persons different point of veiw,
then the world is a wonderful place to be....
Thanks for the insight, SheilaM.
is it just my imagination, or are a disproportionate of jws ex-catholic?.
were you a catholic before a jw?.
why did you feel that the jw religion was "better" than the "catholic" one?.
LV,
Catholics are not ignorant.
What a horrible stereotypical, and well,,,,,ignorant thing to say..

Wednesday,
I see your point. However, All high control groups, well, lets take Scientology for example.
Why dont the dubs specifically target them? Or other cults?
They want to ''harvest'' the most converts, using as little resources as possible.
They use demographics, etc., to this end.
It is how big business works, and the tower is all about big business;
So many good posts and thoughts here. I think we all are zero'ing in on the towers methods.
Waiting, for example. Absolutley right. We must be around the same age, and yes they used that to garner converts.
They used to eshew single mothers, then backed up, when they became statistically useful...
""Yeah, we will support you, and your children''!!!
The Spanish, Latins are big targets too now.....Why? Cause most Latinos are Catholic.....
The tower recognizes they must ''harvest'' the biggest population to keep getting book sellers. Simple as that.
i took the advice of the forum and informed him i wouldlike to study the bible.
he arrived case in hand and pulled out the draw close to jehovah publication.. i said i thought we were going to study the bible...he then said well this is a bible publication...i said has not past publications contained errors and changes in teachings while the bible remains true.

Shotgun,
You don't sound shattered to me, hon!!
I am so impressed with you. Really. Wow!!!
Sounds like you made him do some ''independant thinking'' and ask him some profound questions.
Good for you! I would never be able to be so focused.
